Dan Cioper: Music

Is This the Home That I Seek?

(Daniel Cioper)
July 3, 2007
Clouds of smoke and dust flash far the horizon's set ablaze.
Starry sky lights up the night
though day ain't far away.
All our buried voices cry
they come out in our sleep
saying "Is this the home that I seek?"

Howling winds they lick the grass grown 'neath our weary toes.
While shoes made up of cement sand smother all the globe.
All our wished suffocate, yea
trampled 'neath our feet
screaming "Is this the home that I seek?"

All the while a red balloon
it floats away so swift.
Out of sight it ends it's flight
a-fallen like a flame.
Movie stars they walk the plank of constant rotting teeth wonderin' "Is this the home that I seek?"

Vague discussion runs sightlessly eyes flare up and bulge that somewhere in this world of pain there must be words of love.
But who can speak it everyone's got enemys to teach, preaching,
"Is this the home that you seek?"

Never never never never going home.
(repeat 3X)

Everywhere prisoners of color clot the cracks.
Taken in as hostages they number a mighty mass.
Anyone who really looks knows the minority
are the one's with technological advances
in living, but somehow they don't need themselves
they're covered like kept sheep thinkin',
"Is this the home that I seek?"

Human beings hit their marks
with darts of petty greed.
Numbers flash for reasons that
their children need to eat.
Society's a shooting star
it leads a desert peak
is this the home that I seek?
