Home of the Brave

(Daniel Cioper)
Well the time tick-tocked and the ocean rocked
and the street lights still didn't miss a red.
For the cars still stopped all the way to their jobs
as the afternoon showed not a problem.
And the preacher still prayed though he knows he'll be saved.
But he'd never admit that which he craves.
For this pure white coat is as hollow as a float
for the sun has gone down on the home of the brave.

Well the mothers still made with the apple of the day
and the kids had their lunch just the same.
And the grandma gets her grin from the insurance men
for the doctor who prescribes a sale.
And the trains tracked you home though far more still drove
and some lucky livin' got driven.
And the vampire sucked though it wouldn't be my luck
as the sun goes down on the home of the brave.

Well the green grass grew and the black bird flew
with wings made of second-hand feathers.
And at the super mall where the pop stars call
on you to buy them if just for a day.
Well the merchants make a penny off the poor shmuck one of many
and any other way won't pervade.
And the kids just play for ma' and dad don't say
that the sun has gone down on the home of the brave.

Well the cat still napped and many more than that
in this video game death of a life.
For the joystick vote been unplugged long ago
which nothing but something could save.
But the clock still talks and the boat only rocks
though the hole in the bottom is growing.
And the paint on their face is to cover their shame
As the sun goes down on the home of the brave.

But the man on the stage tells the story of the day
that's written by lunatics long ago.
Though he's as passionate as a pit he's got a carrot and a stick
and the public they buy it just the same.
And though the public agree not all that matters is they're caught
in this voting is your power charade.
So they sit on their sadness and devolve into madness
as the sun goes down on the home of the brave.

Land of the free no more siree
because the sun has gone down on the home of the brave.
